  • Claudio Castagnoli

CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI 6'5" Height: Pro Debut: 2000 Claudio Castagnoli first came into Ring of Honor at the FATE OF AN ANGEL event on July 16th of 2005, and immediately made an impression in his loss to Nigel McGuinness. From that point forward, and for the next six years, “The Swiss Superman” became a staple of ROH events, occasionally beloved and sometimes reviled, but always respected for his in-ring skills. Claudio unsuccessfully went on the hunt to become Pure Champion during Nigel's historic reign, he stuck a knife into the back of Ring of Honor during the Ultraviolent summer of 2006, and captured his first ROH World Tag Team Championship with Chris Hero. While that first title reign was short-lived, ended by Matt Sydal and Christopher Daniels after just 70 days, it gave the ROH faithful but a taste of what was to come for The Kings of Wrestling. Claudio tried in vain to become ROH World Champion, challenging the monstrous Takeshi Morishima for the prize and even renewing his rivalry with Nigel McGuinness in pursuit of that goal, but it never came to be during his original Ring of Honor tenure. But what would come to Double C, following his alliance with Prince Nana's Embassy, was a historic second World Tag Team championship reign with Chris Hero. Now it wasn't historic because it was the second, that was a feat first accomplished by The Briscoes years prior, but because at 363 days, it held the record as longest reign in ROH history for nearly a decade, until The Foundation shattered it with their 441 day run on top of the division. Still, all good things must come to an end, and that was true for both The Kings of Wrestling championship reign and their tenure with Ring of Honor. On August 13, 2011 Claudio bid farewell to the ROH faithful and set about continuing his wrestling journey elsewhere, but the lure of home would return as part of Castagnoli's arrival in All Elite Wrestling. With DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR 2022 just days away, Claudio stepped up to the challenge of then-ROH World Champion Jonathan Gresham, and on that night in July, he finally achieved his dream of becoming a World Champion! Then came Chris Jericho to ruin it all and, through his own nefarious tactics, put an end to Castagnoli's dream just 60 days after it began. But that doesn't mean Claudio ever stopped striving to reclaim the ROH World Championship from “The Ocho”, and at FINAL BATTLE 2022, with the risk of being forcibly-inducted into The Jericho Appreciation Society at stake, Claudio defeated Jericho and became only the sixth man in twenty years to be called a 2-Time ROH World Champion! • Mercedes Martinez

MERCEDES MARTINEZ 5'7" Height: Pro Debut: 2002 She has been referred to as the “OG Badass”, and over the course of her two decades competing inside the squared circle, Mercedes Martinez has absolutely earned that moniker. From her first steps into a wrestling ring in 2002 to her first appearances in Ring of Honor back in 2006, Mercedes has consistently brought the fight to whomever was standing across the ring, and she has fought everyone of note in the last 20 years. Be it Mickie James, former ROH Women of Honor Champion Sumie Sakai, Athena, Saraya, Sara Del Rey, Dr. Britt Baker, Serena Deeb, or Thunder Rosa, Mercedes has faced them all during her wrestling career, and even thrown down with men like Eddie Kingston and the legendary “Notorious 187” Homicide. She has traversed the United States, as well as competed in Japan, the United Kingdom, and Australia, and it all eventually brought Mercedes to the ROH Women's World Championship. PHOTOS

  • Wheeler Yuta

WHEELER YUTA 6'0" Height: Pro Debut: 2014 Competing in Ring of Honor was a dream for Wheeler Yuta when he first began his professional wrestling journey in 2014, one that came true in 2020 when he participated in the Pure Wrestling Title Tournament to crown a new champion for the title that had been unified with the ROH World Championship by Bryan Danielson in August 2006. Although success in the tournament was not in the cards, he was eliminated in the first round by eventual winner Jonathan Gresham, it demonstrated to the ROH faithful what the rest of the independent wrestling world already knew: that Wheeler Yutawas one of the best technicians on the scene. He would see a bit of action in Ring of Honor over the next several months, competing in rather unique situations like a Pure Rules Tag Match and a Pure Rules Gauntlet bout, but his focus would turn to All Elite Wrestling in the summer of 2006, and it was there he would not only earn his way into the Blackpool Combat Club, but he would hone his skills to the level needed to dethrone Josh Woods as Pure Champion at SUPERCARD OF HONOR 2022. Yuta would go onto the defend the championship on three occasions, including against Daniel Garcia at DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR 2022, but Garcia would end that run six weeks later on the September 7th edition of AEW DYNAMITE, capturing the Pure Championship from Yuta in Garcia's hometown. Following that loss, Yuta was wrapped up in one iteration or another of The BCC's battles with The Jericho Appreciation Society, a path that led directly to FINAL BATTLE 2022 and the Garcia/Yuta rubber match. That night in Texas not only did Yuta reclaim the ROH Pure Championship, he also became the first competitor in ROH history to be a 2-Time holder of said title! PHOTOS

  • Mark Briscoe

MARK BRISCOE 6'1" Height: Pro Debut: 2000 They are the ROH originals, two men who were part of the very first official match in Ring of Honor history at THE ERA OF HONOR BEGINS on 2/23/02, and who have remained fiercely loyal to those letters for over 20 years. That first night in South Philly, Jay may have tasted defeat at the hands of Amazing Red while brother Mark stood at ringside, but that first loss only served as fuel for two ROH careers that earned these brothers entry into the first class of the ROH Hall of Fame. Together, Dem Boys have amassed 12 reigns as ROH World Tag Team Champions, and in the process provided the ROH faithful with many unforgettable moments. They, along with Kevin Steen & El Generico, innovated the Ladder War, creating a match so potentially dangerous that ROH even banned its usage for several years. Their early ROH Tag Title bouts with Amazing Red and AJ Styles presented a cutting edge style of tag team wrestling that set an incredibly high bar for every team that followed, while their battles against foes like The Second City Saints, Generation Next, The Motor City Machine Guns, and the Kings of Wrestling continued to push the envelope. In fact, one would be hard-pressed to think of a tag team that Jay and Mark have not stepped into the ring with at some point in their two decades with ROH: The Young Bucks, The Age of The Fall, Eddie Kingston & Homicide, The American Wolves, reDRagon, ANX, The Guerrillas of Destiny, even the legendary Rock 'n' Roll Express have stepped into the ring with Dem Boys and experienced why they are considered one of the greatest teams in modern wrestling. And that's just talking about their experiences as a tag team! Jay Briscoe has twice reigned as ROH World Champion, his second lasting nearly 300 days and included tremendous fights with Jay Lethal, Samoa Joe, Mike Bennett, and an unforgettable Fight Without Honor against Adam Cole. Together with Bully Ray, The Briscoes reigned as ROH World Six Man Champions for over 100 days before Dalton Castle and The Boys ended their title run, and then there's the matter of what happens when Dem Boys go into battle against one another. Jay and Mark's early singles matches in 2002 and 2003 illustrated their willingness to beat the life out of one another, their 2007 clash at FIFTH YEAR FESTIVAL: FINALE proved one the hardest hitting affairs ROH had experienced to that point, and they even battled over the ROH World Championship at BEST IN THE WORLD 2013. And at the end of each family fight, Dem Boys came out an even stronger unit then they were going in, forcing each other to man up for the tag team battles ahead, and usually winning championships shortly thereafter. In this new era of honor, with their SUPERCARD OF HONOR 2022 and DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR 2022 fights with FTR, Jay and Mark were involved in two of the greatest tag matches Ring of Honor has ever experienced, and although they resulted in The Briscoes 12th World Tag Team Championship reign coming to an end, the matches demonstrated that even after 20 years Dem Boys are still the measuring stick in Ring of Honor. • Dalton Castle

DALTON CASTLE 5'11" Height: Pro Debut: 2008 Ever since he first debuted in Ring of Honor back in May of 2013, Dalton Castle has stood out from the crowd. In part, it is due to Castle's top-shelf amateur wrestling skills that led him to a New York State Championship in Greco-Roman wrestling, made him a three-time competitor on an NCAA All-State Team, and brought him to the World Championships as part of Team USA. In part, it is due to how he has molded those skills into his professional wrestling career since first lacing up the boots in 2008. And a big part of what made Dalton Castle stand out from the pack was, and continues to be, his presentation; from the moment he walks into an arena, Castle demands the attention of everyone watching, be they in the arena or watching at home, making it impossible to take your eyes of “The Peacock”. The entrance is extravagant, the addition of The Boys makes it so completely over the top, but none of that would matter if Dalton Castle couldn't get it done in the ring, and clearly, given that Dalton is a former ROH World Champion, a former ROH World Television Champion, and a former, as well as current, ROH World Six Man Tag Champion with The Boys, there is no doubt Castle can handle himself when the bell rings. Be it as a singles competitor, or competing in trios action with his Boys, Dalton Castle has proven time and again that he is a threat to every competitor in Ring of Honor! PHOTOS
