  • ROH on HonorClub Episode 33 Preview

Last week during ROH ON HONOR CLUB, the Ring of Honor faithful witnessed “Legit” Leyla Hirsch challenge ROH Women's World Champion Athena in a title match and come up just shy of dethroning the now 40-0 “Fallen Goddess” as champion. Plus Scorpio Sky topped Fred Rosser, TMDK returned to ROH to defeat The Infantry, Christopher Daniels fell to Rocky Romero, and Ethan Page continued to build himself back with another victory. This Thursday ROH is back with another action-packed edition featuring Leyla Hirsch colliding with Willow Nightingale as both jockey for another opportunity to challenge the champion, said Women's World Champion welcomes another Proving Ground challenge, Ethan Page locks up with “The Fallen Angel”, Lady Frost collides with Mercedes Martinez, and so much more beginning at 7pm ET/6pm CT exclusively on Honor Club! PROVING GROUND MATCH... ROH World Champion Eddie Kingston vs. Serpentico Coming off another hard-hitting double title defense on the TITLE TUESDAY: BUY-IN this week, this time against Minoru Suzuki, ROH World and NJPW STRONG Openweight Champion Eddie Kingston will be right back in action on Thursday night! While neither of his championships will be at stake in this contest, the bout will be contested under Proving Ground rules, with a future shot at the ROH World Championship on the line. All the potential challenger has to do is either defeat the champion, or simply survive ten minutes against the man, it's not to say that it's an impossible feat, it's just that the man trying to accomplish it is Serpentico. Yes he may have a couple tag team victories in Ring of Honor alongside Angelico, but the closest he's come to a singles victory in his limited ROH career was a 2018 disqualification victory over Cheeseburger. In this new era he's lost five singles bouts, including a Proving Ground fight with Claudio and a Quarter-Final Match in the World TV Title Eliminator Tournament against Shane Taylor. That doesn't mean it's impossible for Serpentico to pull off the unthinkable, to shock the world by earning a championship fight with Eddie Kingston, all he need do is survive for ten minutes. Sounds simple in theory, less so in execution, because all Serpentico has to do is slip up and get within striking range of Kingston. If that happens, all it takes is one Spinning Backfist to send Serpentico into another realm, and for “The Mad King” to wait for the next challenger to step up... ONE-ON-ONE... “Legit” Leyla Hirsch vs. Willow Nightingale First on June 16th of 2018, Leyla Hirsch defeated Willow Nightingale... Then on February 28th of 2022, Leyla Hirsch again defeated Willow Nightingale... But this Thursday night, October 12th of 2023, it remains to be seen which woman will have their hand raised in victory and move closer towards the one thing these two warriors have in common: a desire to dethrone “The Fallen Goddess” Athena as ROH Women's World Champion. Leyla Hirsch was the most recent challenger to Athena's crown, facing her one week ago during ROH ON HONOR CLUB, and failing just as the fifteen challenges before also failed. Two of those previous challenges, the fifth and twelve to be exact, came from Willow Nightingale, and obviously she was not destined to ascend to the throne either. So with both Willow and Leyla on the hunt for another chance at ending the reign of the “Forever Champion”, they collide this Thursday night on Honor Club with visions of potential title shots dancing in their heads! Though this one victory may not set either woman up for an immediate championship bid, it will go along way towards establishing their credentials as deserving the next title opportunity. There's no denying both are talented, that both would be worthy champions in their own right, but given that each have already fallen to Athena, twice in Willow's case, it's going to take more than just a single victory to get back into contention! ON A ROLL... “All Ego” Ethan Page vs. “The Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels “All Ego” Ethan Page is on a roll here since returning to Ring of Honor on the September 14th edition of ROH ON HONOR CLUB. He's scored victories over Griff Garrison, VSK, Rohit Raju, and Invictus Khash over those four weeks, and although each was solid competition, Ethan's desire for a stronger challenge has only grown with each victory. Well this week Ethan will get just that when, for the very first time in their careers, he will go head-to-head with “The Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels! It's amazing to think that these two competitors have never met outside of a Tag Team Battle Royale on RAMPAGE back in July, but that all changes this Thursday night when “All Ego” looks to for his fifth straight victory against a certified ROH Legend, albeit one whose lost his last five consecutive matches. Though he was the first ROH Grand Slam Champion, only a Pure Championship reign away from holding every title possible in Ring of Honor's history, the new era of honor has not been the kindest to Christopher Daniels. He's been stifled in ROH World Championship matches with Claudio, a ROH World TV Title bout with Samoa Joe, a Pure Title shot at Katsuyori Shibata, and even in a Six-Man Championship bid against The Mogul Embassy. He was knocked out of the World TV Title Eliminator Tournament by Shane Taylor, fell to Zack Sabre Jr. in a NJPW TV Title bout, and comes into this fight with Ethan Page having lost last week to Rocky Romero. To say Daniels is frustrated would be an understatement, but one does not fight in these rings for as long as “The Fallen Angel” without learning how to take the bad with the good. Perhaps this week's contest against “All Ego” will be the turning point that Daniels so desperately needs, but it may be the stone upon with Ethan Page needs to step in order to earn the ROH World Championship match he desires with Eddie Kingston! ALSO FEATURING: -AAA Latin American Championship Match: QT Marshall(c) vs. Daga -Mercedes Martinez vs. Lady Frost -The Infantry (Carlie Bravo & Capt. ROH is back this Thursday night, exclusively on Honor Club, with some tremendous action, including ROH Women's World Champion Athena defending her championship against “Legit” Leyla Hirsch! Also, Satoshi Kojima returns to Ring of Honor to take on Tony Nese, TMDK of Mikey Nicholls and Shane Haste take on The Infantry of Carlie Bravo and Capt. Shawn Dean, and Scorpio Sky is in action against Fred Rosser! All that and so much more comes to the ROH Faithful this Thursday at 7pm ET/6pm CT, exclusively on Honor Club, the home for Ring of Honor's archives, featuring the most influential professional wrestling of the 21st century! ROH WOMEN'S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH... “The Fallen Goddess” Athena(c) (w/ Billie Starkz) vs. “Legit” Leyla Hirsch “The Fallen Goddess” Athena has been ROH Women's World Champion for nearly 300 days, in fact should she make it to Friday with the title still in her possession, Athena will actually hit that milestone; all she has to do is defeat her 17th challenger on Thursday night. As she stated in her above embedded tirade directed at Billie Starks, Athena is slated to step into the ring with “Legit” Leyla Hirsch for her next defense, a woman who's on a 10 match singles win streak in Ring of Honor, and actually hasn't lost a one-on-one bout in ROH or AEW since the March 18, 2022 edition of RAMPAGE! But she's also a woman who's got a lot on her plate aside from the match, most notably the attention of one Maria Kanellis-Bennett So with this first ever bout between Athena and Leyla Hirsch, will it be the winning streak of “The Fallen Goddess” that remains intact, or will it be that of Hirsch? Will the former continue building her legacy as champion, seemingly destined to be “The Forever Champ” in reality as well as in her own mind, or will the latter bring it all to a sudden end in Seattle? ONE-ON-ONE... Satoshi Kojima vs. Tony Nese Making his first appearance for Ring of Honor at FINAL BATTLE 2003 where he defeated “The Notorious 187” Homicide, Satoshi Kojima made several appearances for ROH over the years, including facing Jay Lethal for the ROH World Championship in 2016 during the G1 Climax and challenging for the ROH World Six-Man Titles on May 8, 2019, making his final appearance on May 12th a few days later. But this Thursday night on Honor Club, the multi-time World Champion will return to Ring of Honor to take on Tony Nese in singles competition! This is one of the biggest fights Nese has had since coming into the ROH fold, and it would skyrocket Tony's profile on an international scale if he can defeat Kojima on Honor Club. Fans got to see Kojima in action during the WRESTLEDREAM: ZERO HOUR, and now they've got a second opportunity this week during Ring of Honor! This man is a one of those legends of Japanese wrestling who can still throw with the best even after 32 years of in-ring combat, so do not miss out on your chance to see Satoshi Kojima compete! ALSO FEATURING: -Scorpio Sky vs. Fred Rosser -TMDK (Mickey Nicholls & Shane Haste) vs. The Infantry (Carlie Bravo & Capt. Shawn Dean) -“All Ego” Ethan Page in action! -Billie Starkz vs. Trish Adora! -Christopher Daniels vs. Rocky Romero -Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor & Lee Moriarty) vs. Workhorsemen (JD Drake & Anthony Henry) vs. Iron Savages (Boulder & Bronson) vs. Cole Karter & Griff Garrison -And more!!! • ROH on HonorClub Episode 31 Preview

In addition to the news that Ring of Honor World Champion Eddie Kingston defending his championship, as well as the NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship, against ROH Pure Champion Katsuyori Shibata this Sunday at WRESTLEDREAM, last week also saw the crowning of new ROH World Six-Man Champions as The Elite defeated The Mogul Embassy to become 2-Time Champs! Then, just last night on DYNAMITE, we learned that one-half of the ROH World Tag Champions, Adam Cole, had suffered an injury that will keep him out of action for several months, which should necessitate a vacating of the belts, but instead AEW World Champion MJF has decided to face The Righteous along on Sunday! But before we get there, ROH is back exclusively on Honor Club (www.watchroh.com) with a big edition of the show! In front of his home audience, Jimmy Jacobs returns to ROH action for the first time since 2015 to take on Shane Taylor! Plus, Athena's Minion in Training Billie Starkz will collide with Lady Frost, The Gates of Agony meet The Iron Savages, Ethan Page is back in ROH action, and Mercedes Martinez takes on the challenge of Allysin Kay. It begins at 7pm ET/6pm CT, exclusively on Honor Club (www.watchroh.com), the home for Ring of Honor's history featuring the most influential matches and wrestlers of the 21st Century! A RETURN TO HONOR... Shane Taylor vs. “The Zombie Princess” Jimmy Jacobs Besides Jay & Mark Briscoe, no man has held the tag team titles more than Jimmy Jacobs. A 5-time champ with 3 different partners, all told he spent 392 days as a champion, but never was able to claim a singles title despite challenging for the World Title a handful of times, or the one chance he had to claim the Television Championship during Matt Taven's reign. All of that is a roundabout way of saying Jacobs greatest successes in ROH came in tag team competition, but that never stopped him from being a tremendous singles competitor and claiming victories over Bryan Danielson, Roderick Strong, a young Adam Page, and Tyler Black, just to name a few, and it is to singles competition that he returns this Thursday night on Honor Club! Unfortunately for Jimmy he finds Shane Taylor standing across the ring from him, a man who was frustrated in his ALL OUT 2023 championship fight with Samoa Joe but has used that fight to further fuel his motivation to become champion once again. It's a tremendous fight for Jacobs to mark as his ROH homecoming, and whether this is a one-time thing, or ROH sees Jimmy return to regular competition, it's a special night and a special opportunity for Shane Taylor to take on a man worthy of entry into a ROH Hall of Fame! ONE-ON-ONE... “Minion in Training” Billie Starkz vs. Lady Frost Billie Starkz has been under the tutelage of AEW Women's World Champion Athena for a few weeks now, and based on the video above it looks like Lexie had also been recruited into Minion training. But while Lexie graduated in record time, Athena declared that Starkz, to put it kindly, wasn't there yet. So in continuation of her training, Billie Starkz will go into action this Thursday on Honor Club and against a woman with whom Athena is quite familiar after their Proving Ground fight back in April, Lady Frost! Starkz and Frost have locked up on a couple occasions on the independent circuit, with Billie winning their last bout in February, and with Frost having lost her last three ROH bouts, she definitely needs the boost a victory of Athena's M.I.T would garner. Starkz, on the other hand, has won her last four bouts in Ring of Honor, and knows that a loss here would only serve to infuriate Athena, thereby making her Minion training that much harder, and minion graduation that much farther away. So can Billie get the approval of her trainer and graduate to full minion status, or will Lady Frost stifle that and leave Starkz at M.I.T status? ALSO FEATURING: “All Ego” Ethan Page in action! Mercedes Martinez vs. Allysin Kay The Gates of Agony vs. Iron Savages Dalton Castle & The Boys in Trios competition! Leyla Hirsch vs. Laynie Luck And more!!!! Ring of Honor is back with an all-new ROH ON HONOR CLUB (https://www.watchroh.com/home) this Thursday night at 7pm ET/6pm CT with Billie Starkz versus Lady Frost, Ethan Page in action, a huge tag team clash between Iron Savages and Gates of Agony, former World Six-Man Champions Dalton Castle and The Boys in action, and Jimmy Jacobs returning to Ring of Honor for a fight with Shane Taylor!

  • The Elite Are The New ROH World Six-Man Champions

ROH World Six-Man Championship Match! The Mogul Embassy (c.)—Brian Cage, Bishop Kaun, & Toa Liona (with Prince Nana) vs. The Elite— “Hangman” Adam Page, & The Young Bucks—Matt & Nick Jackson! Hangman unleashed a series of strikes on Brian Cage. Hangman followed up with a shooting star press off the apron onto Kaun! Nick hit a destroyer on Brian Cage. The Elite were about to hit the BTE Trigger on Brian Cage when Swerve Strickland walked out onto the ramp and had a stare down with Adam Page. Brian Cage suplexed Nick Jackson into the ring. Bishop blasted Matt Jackson with a backstabber. “Great teamwork,” said Tony Schiavone of the Gates of Agony. Matt Jackson jumped off the turnbuckles and hit a crossbody press on the Gates of Agony outside the ring. Matt tagged Hangman and Hangman hit a moonsault on Brian Cage for a near fall! “So explosive is Hangman,” said Tony Schiavone. The Bucks flew to the outside with topes to the Gates of Agony. Brian Cage smashed Page with a waterwheel drop for a two-count! The Bucks invited the Gates to a superkick party! The Mogul Embassy wiped out the Elite with triple firemen’s carries. Toa splashed Hangman and Cage covered Hangman, but Nick was there to make the save. The Bucks blasted the Gates with superkicks. Hangman rocked the Gates with a double Buckshot Lariat! Page spiked Cage with a Dead Eye for a near fall. Swerve distracted Page on the apron. Cage tried to finish Page with the Drill Claw, but Page countered, rolled up Brian Cage and pinned him! And new ROH World Six-Man Champions…The Elite!

  • ROH on HonorClub Episode 30 Preview

Last week was a tremendous one for Ring of Honor, with Claudio Castagnoli defeating Rocky Romero in their ROH World Championship bout, “All Ego” Ethan Page returning to Ring of Honor, and Shane Taylor pulling Lee Moriarty into Shane Taylor Promotions! But who could've guessed that Wednesday night's edition of DYNAMITE would shake up Ring of Honor as well as All Elite Wrestling... That's right, we have a new Ring of Honor World Champion in Eddie Kingston, and ROH could not be prouder to have him carrying the banner of honor moving forward. Kingston will undoubtedly be a fighting champion, and we look forward to what ROH will look like with Eddie at the head of the ship, but he may not be the only be the only new champion by the end of the Thursday night! This week during ROH ON HONOR CLUB, exclusively available on Honor Club, THREE ROH championships will be on the line! Shibata defends the Pure Championship against the debuting Nick Wayne, The Mogul Embassy defends the World Six-Man Titles against The Infantry and Willie Mack, and Athena welcomes Angelina Love back to ROH as she attempts to dethrone “The Fallen Goddess”. It all beings at 7pm ET/6pm CT, exclusively on Honor Club (www.watchroh.com), your home for the rich history of the most influential wrestling promotion of the 21st century, and the place where competition thrives! ROH PURE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH... Katsuyori Shibata(c) vs. Nick Wayne The day Nick Wayne had his first professional wrestling match on record, Ring of Honor was in West Palm Beach for BOUND BY HONOR 2018: NIGHT 1, a show featuring The Briscoes defending the ROH World Tag Titles against The Motor City Machine Guns and where BULLET CLUB took on The Kingdom in Trios action. The Pure Title had been long since unified with the ROH World Title, Katsuyori Shibata was medically retired from the sport, and the idea Nick would compete for Ring of Honor seemed a far-fetched dream. Fast forward to this Thursday night, and not only is Nick Wayne making his debut for Ring of Honor, he is doing so against Shibata and for the ROH Pure Championship no less! What a way for Nick to make his debut in ROH, and what an opportunity to spread his name throughout the international wrestling community. A victory over “The Wrestler” would make headlines for young Mr. Wayne, and being the one to end the 174-day reign of Shibata would only further bolster that accomplishment. Now Shibata has already announced himself for participation at WRESTLEDREAM on October 1st in Seattle, but will he be coming there with the ROH Pure Championship around his waist, or will Nick Wayne return to the Pacific Northwest with it around his? ROH WOMEN'S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH... “The Fallen Goddess” Athena(c) vs. Angelina Love Athena heads into this Thursday night on a roll like no other person in the history of Ring of Honor! Fourteen championship defenses, undefeated in ROH competition through 38 matches across multiple promotions, and this week she rolls into State College, PA and the campus of Penn State University to face a woman quite familiar with the landscape of the previous era of honor. Though her reign as the ROH Women of Honor Champion lasted just two weeks, her reign of terror over the competitors in ROH lasted two and a half years beginning with the G1 SUPERCARD at Madison Square Garden. As a member of The Allure, Love made live hell for a great many of the women fighting under the ROH banner, and when the ROH Women's World Championship tournament began in 2021, Angelina attempted to add that crown to her resume as well. Though ultimately defeated by eventual winner Rok-C, Love remained in the picture through FINAL BATTLE 2021: END OF AN ERA. Now, nearly two years since her last appearance inside a ROH ring, Angelina Love returns in hopes of claiming the title she never held and bolstering her resume as the one who ended the run of the self-proclaimed Forever Champion! Love has the experience and skill to pull it off, and has certainly proven over the years a willingness to fight as dirty as Athena to get what she wants, but will she get it this Thursday night on Honor Club? ROH WORLD SIX-MAN CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH... The Mogul Embassy (Bishop Kaun, Brian Cage, & Toa Liona)(c) vs. The Infantry (Carlie Bravo & Capt. Shawn Dean) and Willie Mack A Friday night date with The Elite of Hangman Page and The Young Bucks looms overhead for the winner of this bout, not merely a date but a championship fight, still all six men have to focus on the task at hand this Thursday on Honor Club, and for The Mogul Embassy that means putting down the challenge of the nascent trio of The Infantry and Willie Mack! The last thing Prince Nana wants to see happen is his men getting dethroned 24 hours before they face their biggest challenge, and their biggest winner's purse, especially against a team whose experience together doesn't compare to that of The Mogul Embassy. For 285 days and through nine successful championship defenses, Nana's champions have crushed all competition placed in front of them, and aim to do the same to Carlie Bravo, Capt. Shawn Dean, and Mack. Though the challengers enter into this fray with back-to-back victories, they are undoubtedly underdogs just hoping to catch that three second flash victory over one of The Mogul Embassy's monsters, and move onto the RAMPAGE championship bout with The Elite. It would absolutely be one of the biggest upsets in ROH history, and that is the last thing the defending champions, Prince Nana, or Swerve Strickland want to see go down! ALSO FEATURING: -Lee Johnson vs. Lee Moriarty (w/ Shane Taylor) -Cole Karter & Griff Garrison (w/ Maria Kanellis-Bennett) vs. Action Andretti & Darius Martin -Trish Adora vs. Mercedes Martinez -“All Ego” Ethan Page vs. VSK -The Renegades & Leyla Hirsch vs. Skye Blue, Willow Nightingale, & Kiera Hogan -Diamante in action! Ring of Honor is back with an all-new ROH ON HONOR CLUB this Thursday night at 7pm ET/6pm CT with three huge championship matches, the return of Angelina Love to Ring of Honor, Trish Adora fighting Mercedes Martinez, Maria's tag team in action together for the first time, and a big Women's Trios match! It all comes your way this Thursday night, exclusively on Honor Club, your home for more than twenty years of the most influential professional wrestling promotion of the 21st century!

Eddie tried for a backfist, but Claudio countered with the crown of his head. Claudio back suplexed Eddie Kingston onto the ramp! Claudio clotheslined Eddie over the top rope and back into the ring. Claudio double stomped down onto the left arm of Claudio. Eddie moved out of the way of Claudio’s diving headbutt. Claudio battered Eddie in the corner turnbuckles. Claudio nailed Eddie with a TKO for a near fall. Claudio blasted Eddie with boots to the face. Kingston baited Claudio in and nailed Claudio with two suplexes for a two-count. Eddie fired off a straight right to Claudio’s jaw, knocking Claudio to his knees. Claudio answered with a right hand of his own. Claudio staggered Eddie with European uppercuts. Claudio headbutted Eddie and followed up with a short arm lariat. Claudio went for the ricola bomb, but Eddie reversed it for a near fall. Claudio hit the ricola bomb, but Eddie kicked out at the two-count! “This crowd coming unglued in support of their own Eddie Kingston,” said Excalibur. Eddie clocked Claudio with three back fists and followed up with a Northern Lights Bomb for a near fall on Claudio. Kingston fired off another backfist and then powerbombed Claudio for the pinfall victory! And new Ring of Honor World Champion Eddie Kingston! Claudio extended his hand and Eddie accepted. The Code of Honor was adhered to. “It’s a great moment in the long history of Dynamite,” said Tony Schiavone.
