With just eight days until SUPERCARD OF HONOR 2024 brings Ring of Honor home to Philadelphia, there are two episodes of ROH ON HONOR CLUB left for the competitors to make their statements! In the aftermath of losing the AEW Continental Championship to Kazuchika Okada, ROH World Champion Eddie Kingston made his intentions for Mark Briscoe known as they had towards their clash on April 5th, and we now know that Billie Starkz will take on Queen Aminata to crown the first ROH Women's World Television Champion!
In addition, that night Hikaru Shida and ROH Women's World Champion Athena will collide with The Fallen Goddess' championship on the line, but there's plenty more to come, and a wealth of competitors all looking to earn a spot on ROH's premiere event!
During this week's edition of ROH ON HONOR CLUB, we will see ROH Women's World Champion Athena in action, Kiera Hogan look to even the score with Diamante, a wild Trios Match, Dalton Castle in action, and plenty more! Plus we will hear from Hikaru Shida ahead of her fight with Athena, Maria's Baby Boys will be in action, and it all goes down this Thursday night beginning at 7pm ET/6pm CT exclusively on Honor Club! Not only is Honor Club your home for more than 20 years of professional wrestling history, but it is also the only place where you can see SUPERCARD OF HONOR 2024 on Friday night April 5th!
ROH WOMEN'S WORLD CHAMPION ATHENA IN ACTION!
It's official: ROH Women's World Champion Athena will defend her title against former 3-Time AEW Women's World Champion Hikaru Shida at SUPERCARD OF HONOR 2024 live on Honor Club come April 5th! It's not a situation that makes “The Fallen Goddess” very happy, after all ten years ago in their only singles match, Shida defeated Athena in front of the fans inside the Berwyn Eagles Club, and ROH's self-proclaimed “Forever Champion” has clearly not let go of that fact.
Perhaps the anger she's feeling about that situation that's led Athena to step into the ring this Thursday night for Proving Ground action! She's definitely looking for some piece of porcelein to smash, but that anger might prove her undoing if taking a match so close to a huge championship fight results in a loss, or worse, an injury. As for whoever steps into the ring with Athena, this is a huge opportunity for one woman to set themselves up for a championship match coming out of SOH '24, and it's also a grand opportunity for Shida to scout just how far her opponent has come since their meeting a decade ago!
ROH WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH...
Kyle Fletcher(c) vs. “All Heart” Blake Christian
When he became the 31st ROH World Television Champion at FINAL BATTLE 2023, Kyle Fletcher said he was making it his mission to become the greatest TV Champion in history. It was a pretty bold statement to make on the heels of Samoa Joe's record-breaking 574 day reign atop the division, also one to make considering Jay Lethal's second reign boasted 36 successful championship defenses, but it just meant to Fletcher had to get straight to work to make his mark with a title that had been held by Roderick Strong, Adam Cole, Matt Taven, Shane Taylor, and Christopher Daniels, to name a handful.
Fletcher got off to a hot start with three successful defenses in three weeks, including one over “The Fallen Angel”, but then Don Callis Family business pulled him away from that mission, and it's now been more than two months since the last time Fletcher put the World TV Title on the line. That changes this Thursday night on Honor Club when Kyle welcomes the challenge of “All Heart” Blake Christian! That heart is why Christian has stepped up to this challenge, just as he did when he challenged Samoa Joe last May, when he challenged Claudio Castagnoli in January 2023, and when he challenged The Embassy for Six-Man gold at SUPERCARD OF HONOR 2023. Blake Christian is a man willing to take the risks, to seize an opportunity, and so he steps up to the table once more to go all in as SUPERCARD OF HONOR 2024 approaches!
Will we see Kyle Fletcher dethroned so close to ROH's marquee event, or will Blake Christian fall before the reigning champion? And if Blake is the next to taste defeat before Fletcher, will anyone step up to the challenge to April 5th live on Honor Club?
LOST...
Dalton Castle vs. Nick Comoroto
As if Dalton Castle wasn't already on edge from his pursuit of punching Johnny TV's face, he's completely lost any semblance of composure since losing The Boys to Johnny and Taya Valkyrie a few weeks ago. To pile bad news onto bad news, Dalton just found out that The Boys are missing, there were possibly bears involved, and Johnny TV has absolutely no idea where they might be! Sure there's alternate Boys, the single use Boys as Dalton referred to them, but they aren't The Boys and their absence is pushing Dalton to the limits of his sanity. It seems even the every-patient Lexy Nair has had her fill of Castle's behavior, and now the former ROH World Champion has to compete inside the squared circle this Thursday night!
Nick Comoroto has been looking for his purpose as of late, perhaps he can find it with Jacoby Watts, or perhaps he can get there with a victory over Dalton Castle, a man who has held the World, Television, and Six-Man crowns in Ring of Honor! This is as good a time as any for Comoroto to score this upset, Castle is far from being at the peak of his game, so will this be Nick's night to begin his rise up the card?
ONE-ON-ONE...
Diamante vs. Kiera Hogan
The first round of the AEW Women's World TV Title Tournament saw Diamante eliminate Kiera Hogan from the field, but Diamante would find herself out of the championship hunt a few weeks later thanks to finalist Billie Starkz. It was disappointing for both Diamante and Kiera to be knocked out of contention, but that doesn't mean their hunger to become the ROH Women's World TV Champion just disappeared. Both still want that title, both want to be the first challenger to the crown after SUPERCARD OF HONOR 2024, but there's a little matter of fighting one another before that even becomes a possibility!
So it will be this Thursday night on Honor Club that Diamante and Kiera Hogan will go one-on-one once again, a rematch of their tournament bout, but also reigniting a dynamic that dates back years, and has seen the two women work both as allies and foes! At this point in time, Diamante is firmly planted in the corner of Mercedes Martinez, and she's willing to do anything to insure that it's her or Mercedes who gets that first challenge at new champion!
THE CHALLENGER...
Mark Briscoe is set to challenge Eddie Kingston for the ROH World Championship in just eight days, his first shot since fighting Adam Cole at A NEW DAWN on 9/28/13, and “The Mad King” has already told Chicken he's planning to bring a bit of the old Eddie Kingston into the fight. This week we will hear from the 13-Time ROH World Tag Champion with his perspective on their impending fight, and what he aims to do on April 5th in Philadelphia!
